Registered Nurse - Clinical Educator

The RN Clinical Educator has MGVAMC wide responsibilities to coordinate clinical education for all employees. The incumbent is responsible for collaborating with services and departments to implement a needs assessment; develop/coordinate employee education plans. Duties include but are not limited to:
Works collaboratively consulting with management to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate education programs for staff, maintain and enhance clinical competence, and manage ongoing education and competency programs. Serves as a role model and clinical leader to nursing staff for clinical excellence, research, and best practices. Collaborates and consults with multidisciplinary teams in planning, directing, and implementing a patient-centered environment. Systematically evaluates and facilitates change in clinical practice/standards of care. Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating educational activities. Ability to convey information to staff at various levels from novice to expert. Familiar with established policies and procedures and administration of the unity in accordance with the Joint Commission, other regulatory agencies, and VA policy. Ability to articulate and interpret organizational policies and procedures to the health care team. Functions as one of the key people in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to the standards. Promotes evidence based clinical practice and assist staff and leadership with Quality Management and Performance Improvement programs, including evidence-based research projects. Takes initiative and utilizes innovative and creative approaches for change practice based on performance improvement findings and evidence based practice. Demonstrates leadership in providing clinical expertise in selecting/supporting new equipment/monitoring devices used within the facility. Collaborates with management, Chief Nurses, and Medical Directors for program development, quality care, and resource planning. Facilitates a variety of learning experiences using a range of instructional methods and modalities. Utilizes methods, measurements, and tools to evaluate achievement of learning goals and to collect and analyze data. Educator will share this information with nursing leadership. The goal will be to assist with staff and program development. Enhance and facilitate clinical excellence and professional standards and performance through the incorporation of nursing grand rounds, continuing education programs, in-services, journal clubs, student experiences, new employee and experienced staff orientation. Acts as a resource and liaison by serving on facility-wide committees, councils, and task forces. Works collaboratively with and is active in participating as applicable with general educational directives, training, in-services, orientation, educational programs, and CPR training (BLS/ACLS) May be responsible and assigned to facility programs. Change agent, fosters and demonstrates innovative and creative approaches to problem solving and process improvement. This RN possesses the knowledge and skills to effectively apply all aspects of the nursing process within a collaborative, interdisciplinary practice setting within these assignments. Follows approved numbered memorandums, policies, protocols and procedures as appropriate. The RN is also responsible and accountable for maintaining general competency in:
Infection Control, Quality Improvement, BLS Training (for appropriate areas), Patient Safety, Information Management, Customer Service. Other duties, within the scope of licensure, as assigned by Chief of Education Service. Work Schedule:

Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant:
The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6) OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia. The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade:
Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse III - Master's degree in nursing or related field with BSN and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
