Credentialing Program Assistant (OA)

Process Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE) and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE). Gather information for appointment/reappointment of individuals to the medical staff including evaluation of performance, continuing medical education, and attendance at medical staff committee meetings, and other items that may be needed. Correspond with previous employers, hospitals, medical schools, licensing boards as well as personal references to obtain letters of verification and/or references. Maintain two computerized databases which helps the credentialing office stay within the established timelines for completion of work. Verify information on physicians into the computer program, developing and maintaining computerized documentation of all physicians and relevant information, including current licensure, registration, DEA registration, status of clinical privileges, dates of evaluation, renewal of privileges, etc. Provide letters of verification on all former staff, consultants. Use judgment and interpretation to apply the guides to specific situations and be able to adapt or improvise procedures to deal with unique and one-of-a-kind situations. Provide all support and administrative duties deemed appropriate to maintain the productivity and workflow of the Credentialing and Privileging Office. Evaluate the credentials of licensed independent practitioner (LIP) applicants and physician assistants for VHA employment and to assure that only fully qualified and suitable candidates are accepted for appointment. Respond to sensitive and complex areas including disciplinary actions and peer reviews. Provide authoritative explanations of regulations, requirements and procedures pertaining to the application and verification procedures of the credentialing & privileging process. Work Schedule:

Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-5 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes, but are not limited to:
one year of Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE) and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE) process experience, process government purchase cards and reconciliations, understand credentialing and privileging rules, regulations, and standards, ability to work with MS Excel, Adobe Acrobat (edit and create forms), database management and web-based software utilities, demonstrate high attention to detail and exceptional customer service skills, knowledge of licensure and certification renewal processes. Physical Requirements:
Work is mostly sedentary. The physical demands of the job include walking within the medical center, sitting at a desk, using a computer with keyboard, standing or occasional bending. Squatting or stooping to access file cabinet drawers also may be involved. The carrying of light items less than 15 pounds such as papers, files, books and manuals as needed. Normal or corrected vision, hearing and manual dexterity are required. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
