Physician (Gastroenterologist)

A specialist in gastroenterology will provide direct comprehensive patient care in an outpatient and/or hospital setting to adults with acute and chronic medical conditions that may involve or be suspected of involving the luminal gastrointestinal system, the liver, biliary tree or pancreas and serves as a consultant to other physicians. The gastroenterologist is an expert in history taking, physical examination, test interpretation, patient counseling and differential diagnosis and medical therapeutics of these conditions. In addition, is an expert in the performance and interpretation of esophagogastroduodenoscopy, PEG's, enterscopy, and colonoscopy, including obtaining appropriate tissue samples. Various methods of dilation of strictures may also be performed. the gastroenterologist may also perform and supervise paracentesis (diagnostic and therapeutic), liver biopsies, and manometric gastrointestinal motility studies and pH studies. In addition, gastroenterologists with special training may perform ERCP's and endoscopic ultrasound with FNA. The gastroenterologist evaluates and manages adults who have single or multiple disorders in all areas of gastroenterology. In genera, will provide care in secondary and tertiary care settings and provides primary care to patients with chronic, active gastrointestinal problems. The practice of gastroenterology is not limited by location in which a patient is seen and occurs in a broad variety of settings including clinics, emergency rooms, urgent care clinics and inpatient wards including intensive care units. A substantial portion of the gastroenterologist's time is spent in a procedure unit performing endoscopic procedures. Work Schedule:

Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Licensure & Registration:
Physicians must possess a current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. The physician must maintain current registration in the State of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, current licensure. Residency Training:
Physicians must have completed residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. English Language Proficiency:
Physicians appointed to direct patient-care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d). Reference:

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
