This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Communications Center at a Border Patrol Sector. The Communications Center operates on 4-10 hour shifts or eight hour shifts, seven days a week, on a rotational basis. This position provides information to assist officers in detaining, apprehending and deporting aliens from the United States and facilitates officer safety by monitoring radio transmissions utilizing various communications systems. This position starts at a salary of $31,628 (GS-5), with promotion potential to $45,828 (GS-6).

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
